Tay Cher Siang trained in classical music as a child and begins to explore about Jazz during his teenage years.He received his Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from West Virginia University and continued to pursue his Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy. He studied from Dr. Miltenberger and Professor Scea. His achievements include: • West Virginia University Young Artist Competition in 2004, • HERF Top-Off Award Recipient • Valerie Canady Award. He was the Graduate Assistant for the Jazz Department in WVU where he got the chance to direct the college's Jazz Big Band and various Small Group Ensembles. Throughout the years, Cher Siang performed regularly as a soloist, as well as with ensembles such as the West Virginia University Big Band, the Mon River Big Band, the Jenny Menna Trio, the Washington Street Jazz Band, and the West Virginia University Wind Symphony Orchestra. While in the United States, he was resident pianist at the Regatta Bar and Grill at Radisson Hotel, Morgantown, West Virginia.
